The night wore on with Dick apologetically declining numerous offers for a warm bed and some good company. When I finally got home I was exhausted and was surprised to see my youngest son sitting at the kitchen table looking somewhat forlorn. Hey, buddy what's up? I asked sitting down across from him. I had to work late today and actually I was happy about that because it meant there wouldn't be a visitor in my basement after work. By the time I got home the boys would be there and I'd be safe. I have to admit I felt weak for thinking that, that I was being protected by the presence of my sons, but that was the reality of it. There were just three of us working late tonight, a kind of punishment from the boss, for various reasons. It was a long day on the work site today and I was not in a great mood when I when I got home. I kept telling myself on the way home that I was going to confront my neighbor about what he was doing and that it had to stop. I'm a divorced construction worker. I've got two sons, 18 and 20. I love my job but it can be a long day hard day and I've got the body and marriage to prove it. Hard, muscled, divorced and exhausted. My favorite time of day is after work, for 2 hours I've got the place to my self.
