Laura Jayne Smith--"Call On Me" Girl
The tune "Call On Me" by Eric Prydz was released in 2004 with what must be one of the most notorious music videos ever. It was a launching pad for the international celebrity career of Australian fitness guru Deanne Berry who leads the aerobics class in the video.
Eroticism in aerobics is not new. FAR from it! In fact, the "Call On Me" video was a take-off on the theme of the movie "Perfect" released in 1983. There, Jamie Lee Curtis is the class leader and John Travolta is the guy putting out the vibes of lust--which are reciprocated by Curtis.
There are a bunch of babes in the "Call On Me" video. Deanne Berry garners the lion's share of the attention. But, it is Laura Jayne Smith that grabbed and held my attention when I first saw the video. It's in my Favorites here on Xham. Check it out!
Laura projects a persona of cocky, gum-chomping sexiness. There are little hip flicks that she does at the very beginning of the video before the aerobics workout starts that are SO sensual. It's like she is a Sex Dragster revving up before the green light on a quarter-mile track!
One might catch the fact that Laura's camera shots in the video are second only to Deanne's. This no doubt due to the fact that Laura was already a TV personality in the UK years before the video was produced. In fact, she had her own show. It was called "The GirlyShow" and her persona was as Princess Girly. Laura is also the sister of Matt Smith who played The Eleventh Doctor in the long-running British Sci-Fi TV series "Doctor Who".
When "Call On Me" was performed throughout Europe on TV, Laura was right there at Deanne's side in her distinctive workout gear. She never wore anything else when appearing with Deanne. Well, she did once. Pink and black. The striped outfit was truly Laura's Video Workout "uniform". Actually, there were a number of the original video's babes that performed on tour as well. The entourage also included the original Hunk of Lust Juan Pablo di Pace reprising his role as Deanne's erotic counterpart. Dig around on YouTube. You'll find numerous clips of the "Call On Me" promotional TV performances. Just search "Deanne Berry". Much eye candy is to be had! The 2009 "Pump It Up" aerobics video is there, too. Try the workout.....if you dare. It is brutal! Laura has always been in good shape, but confessed that she was "shattered" after the video shoot.
If you check this stuff out, I don't know if Laura will grab you the way she did me. To each his own. But, Laura Jayne is the girl for me!

"Call On Me" was crafted by Swedish DJ/Producer Eric Prydz from a sample taken from the 1982 Stevie Winwood tune "Valerie". Purportedly, Winwood was so impressed by what Prydz had done with the sample that he offered to re-record the vocal part of that sample for the commercial release of the tune.
