Who is able to post photos?

My ability to post photos is not functioning right now, the option isnt even there. I notice though that some people still can. I even created a different account and tried a different browser and can only post video. I messaged support and they say its temporary, but my curiosity is why only some people are affected?

Anyone else having this issue?

至 Casually_kinky : Only professional content creators (golden camera icon on profile page) can upload photos. All registered users can upload videos. Verified or not.

至 sundownunder : Perhaps I am wrong, Take a look at the photos that are actually up on the site over the past week. Not very many and it looks like only from verified users.

至 Casually_kinky : I don't read the NYT, but every registered user can still upload content. Video upload is not blocked. So I think you're wrong.

It is a response to the NY Times piece on P---Hub... only verified accounts can upload content.

All current photo uploaders are professional content creators. All basic users are blocked for uploading photos. In my opinion, the reason for that is the tons of bullshit that have been uploaded every single day. Galleries with hundreds or even thousands of photos which have already been shown a hundred times before.

至 drgoodhead : I was figuring this was going to be the case. one of the other sites pulled a lot of content down because of bad content.

I examined the profiles of several users who posted photos today. As indicated by the green check mark in the upper right corner of their profile, they are "Verified Users". I believe the requirement is to submit a photo showing your face while you are holding a handwritten sign with your user ID written on it. I am not 100% sure, but I believe this verification photo does not need to appear on your profile as long as Hamster has a copy of it tied to your profile. Other classes of posters appear to be "Content Sellers" and "Friends of Hamster". I assume these statuses also require some verification of your identity.

I can't either, get an error but it appears video is ok-very strange.
